Terri Rutter, president of Desierto Home Healthcare, announced that Zenda Peters has been appointed data coordinator for Desierto Home Healthcare. Peters was previously with affiliate, The Rutter Group Inc. Alejandra Barragan has been appointed accounting manager of Rutter Financial. Barragan brings more than 12 years of public accounting experience to the firm. Ana Miranda was appointed as staff accountant. Miranda has been in public accounting for nine years.

Richard P. Martinez has been promoted by Bank of American Texas Walter Elcock to market executive for the International Private Bank in the Southwest. Martinez will manage the International Private Bank in the El Paso, Tucson and Houston markets and will relocate to Houston. Bank of America also named Randall Harvey as the new senior banking executive in El Paso.

Burnett Staffing Specialists has chosen Delia Soto as employee of the month for June. Soto works as a secretary.

Robert Seipel Associates Inc., Professional Land Surveyors, announced that Charles H. Gutierrez has earned his license as a registered professional land surveyor in the state of Texas. Gutierrez has been employed by Robert Seipel Associates Inc. for eight years and will continue in his capacity as field supervisor and research specialist.

Laurie Paternoster has been elected a regional director for Leadership Alumnae Association, headquartered in Dallas. Paternoster is an El Paso writer and community volunteer and is a 1999 graduate of Leadership Texas.

Sally Martinez has been promoted to senior accountant in the governmental department of Dunbar, Broaddus Gibson LLP.

Sandra Bravo has joined Raba-Kistner as an industrial hygienist. Bravo has a bachelor of science degree in environmental science from Thomas Edison State College. She has more than 10 years of experience in industrial hygiene and environmental science and will focus on indoor air quality and comprehensive industrial hygiene.

Wade Daw of Thomasville Home Furnishings announced the new business production leader for the month of May. The top producer Diamond Award was presented to Trini Nevarez, a longtime design consultant with the firm.

New York Life Insurance Co. in El Paso announced its top four agents in overall sales and case rate.

Overall sales: Senior Agent of the Month Jose Canales, LUTCF; Junior Agent of the Month Joel Jankowski, LUTCF; New Agent of the Month Anna Y. Soto; Quick Start Agent of the Month Guillermo Cintron.

Rebeca Ramos, MPH, has assumed the position of executive director of Community Voices, a nonprofit corporation with the mission of improving access to primary health care and prevention services for the medically indigent populations in the El Paso area.

John McC. Witherspoon, a shareholder in the business department of Kemp Smith Law Firm, was the featured speaker at the recent Nonprofit and Organizational Management Conference sponsored by the Center of Civic Engagement. He spoke on the topics of "Developing a Strong Board of Directors and Advisory Board and Importance of Bylaws for a Nonprofit Organization."

Jeanne C. Collins, a shareholder in the litigation department of Kemp Smith Law Firm, was a featured speaker recently at the University of Texas in the pre-law class. She spoke on the topics of "Jury Selection and Jury Consultants." Collins serves as the president of the El Paso Women's Bar Association, is a director at large for Texas Women's Lawyers and on the board of El Paso Legal Assistance Society.

Walker F. Crowson, an associate in the labor and employment department of Kemp Smith Law Firm, was the featured speaker at the recent Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Small Business Best Practices Lecture Series. He conducted a presentation on the topic of "The Federal Wage and Hour Act and the Small Business."

Michael D. McQueen, a shareholder in the labor and employment department with Kemp Smith Law Firm, was a featured speaker for a recent seminar titled "Human Resource Audits in Texas" sponsored by Lorman Education Services. His topic was "Employment Policies and Procedures." McQueen is the vice chair of the Executive Council of the State Bar of Texas Labor and Employment Law Section and is Board Certified in labor and employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Dr. Carlos Gonzalez and occupational therapist Richard Brito recently attended a weeklong ergonomics certification program seminar sponsored by Roy Matheson and Associates. Gonzalez is owner/proprietor of Gonzalez Rehabilitation Centers.

John M. Rindt was elected to the board of directors of the National Association of Surety Bond Producers at the recent annual meeting of the organization. NASBP is a select group of more than 400 professional insurance agents in North America who are recognized as specialists providing surety bonds and insurance for the construction industry. Rindt is executive vice president of JDW Surety and has been a member of the JDW staff for more than 17 years.

Victor Baca has been recognized by Allstate Insurance Co. for high standards in customer satisfaction, customer retention and profitability by receiving the Honor Ring award. For more than 40 years, the Honor Ring award has been Allstate's symbol of outstanding achievement.

Blanca Sapien has been recognized by Allstate Insurance Co. for high standards in customer satisfaction, customer retention and profitability by achieving the designation of the Chairman's Inner Circle Conference qualifier. Sapien is among only 2 percent of nationwide Allstate agencies to reach this level of achievement.

Ron Montgomery has been recognized by Allstate Insurance Co. for high standards in customer satisfaction, customer retention and profitability by achieving the Quality Agency award. The award recognizes him as a top salesperson in auto, property, business and life insurance and is a symbol of the agency's dedication to serve and protect its customers.

Robert Wiener has been recognized by Allstate Insurance Co. for high standards in customer satisfaction, customer retention and profitability in addition to being a community leader and top salesperson in auto, property, business and life insurance by achieving the designation of the National Conference qualifier.

Scott Craft has been named the Vector Marketing Corp. district manager at the El Paso office.

ASTM International has announced that Patrick D. Gorman, president of Gorman Moisture Protection Inc. in El Paso, is the recipient of the Sealants Hall of Fame Award for 2002. The award is presented to an active member of ASTM Committee C24 on Building Seals and Sealants in recognition of distinguished service in the area of building seals and sealants and for contributions to the stimulation of research, promotion of knowledge and exceptional service to the building seals and sealants industry and C24. Gorman has been a member of ASTM since 1992.

Robert Nickerson was re-elected to the Fort Bliss Federal Credit Union board of directors for a three-year term. Nickerson has served on the credit union board of directors since 1987. He is a member of the marketing committee and has extensive experience with credit union activities.

Donald King was elected to the Fort Bliss Federal Credit Union board of directors for a three-year term. He is a graduate of Sul Ross University and has a master's degree in education and human resources from Boston University and has a master's degree in political science from the University of Texas at El Paso.
